Melanie Codina Hi Karen!
Yes, there are bits and pieces of people and I know and love mixed in all over the place. In my world, there are two people who make up Allie, and there are a few things said or played out in each novel that are based on events involving them. =)
Melanie Codina Thanks for asking Victoria. The answer is yes, Jonathan and Lee's story will continue. Their next book, Expectations, will be a full length novel. There is still much to share about them =)
Melanie Codina I'm not sure I can say I got the specific idea for the most recent book anywhere. I tend to write stories that either touch on fears or concerns of my own and how I would respond to them if ever in those situations. When I wrote Tori from Love Required, I was concerned with her past and how well I was going to be able to write it. Her history with her ex was terrorizing and I wanted to make sure I wrote a character who had reason to be strong enough to overcome the terror. For her, it was her child that gave her that strength.
When I imagined what it would be like to be faced with a horrible man like her ex, I imagined what she would need in her future and what she deserved. And I just happened to have Jason Michaels waiting in the background for her.
So for me, it starts as a thought, then it evolves into questions, and then I try to play those answers out and a story is what I get. =)
Melanie Codina I had a scene that kept playing over and over in my head. It became a frustration to try and figure out what it was from. When I realized it was all mine, and I typed it out, the story exploded in my head and became what it is today.
Melanie Codina I currently have several works in progress.
Assumptions is my next release and it is a spin off from my original series. This series focuses on the younger generation we meet in The Real Love Series.
After Assumptions, we have Intentions, which is Madison Baxter's story.
Another project is the much anticipated story of Logan Baxter. It's still untitled but I will make sure to share that with you all as soon as I have it locked in.
Melanie Codina Do it!
Write those words down. Then rewrite them over and over again until you impress yourself. You should always remember that if you don't love the words, the readers won't either.
Melanie Codina The fans!
The fact that there are people who read my words, and actually love them, is the most rewarding part. It never gets old hearing how a reader connected with a character and how they want more. It's very humbling.
Melanie Codina Usually I throw a major temper tantrum. You know, the kind complete with jumping up and down and crying ... but then what I do is step away from the work in progress. I will read a book in a completely different genre and usually that helps. I have also re-read one of my previous books to help me reconnect with the past characters and bring me back into their world. Both methods have worked.
