As cliche as this might sound, my best advice for aspiring writers can be summed up in two words: READ and WRITE. If you are going to be a writer, you need to read- read in the genres you want to write in; read about the art/craft of writing; read about the industry & marketing- just read! And, of course, write! Write consistently. Whether you are working on a book, writing for a blog and/or writing in your private journal (or all these things and more!), keep at it. Not everything you write is going to be worth sharing, especially at first, but everything you write helps you improve and gets you closer to your writing dreams.

I am currently working on a couple of projects, both non-fiction books on writing. Still in the early stages, but I hope to announce in more detail soon. That said, I have several fiction ideas busting to be written, so I'll have to give them some time very soon as well.

In truth, I can't help BUT to write. Even if no one ever read anything I wrote, I would still write. Idea gets into my head and if I don't get them out in a creative way, they drive me crazy. Thankfully I have found an amazing fan base that seems to love what I put out, so I will keep doing it!

The idea for "The Last Verdict" was inspired by my years of friendship with men on death row, as well as with members of their family. So often when we talk about the topic of capital punishment, it is conceptual and broadly political. However, when we begin to see the real people behind- within these stories, it changes everything. It did for me.
