Susan Marsh It was more a matter of emotional triggers coming together than an actual idea. I wanted to explore father-daughter relationships, the idea of preservation and conservation (both of buildings and wild country), and I needed to set my story in a much loved place that I have been wanting to write about for years.
Susan Marsh It feels more like habit than inspiration, it is just what I do. I have no trouble finding something to write about, even if it's just a journal entry. If I wait to be inspired I won't write much.

Susan Marsh I have found mental and spiritual salvation in writing. It helps me know who I am and what matters most to me. It helps me understand the world I live in.
Susan Marsh I set myself a schedule to be here at the writing desk every morning for 1-3 hours. It's like going to work, you come and you get going. No writer's block - though I can get distracted by getting on websites and answering questions instead of getting down to work!
