Jill Prand I've always loved reading and making up stories in my head. I tried to write a couple of times in the past but life got in the way. I was laid off in 2012 and decided to just go for it when I was encouraged by a few friends.

Jill Prand Write everyday. The more you write the better you get at it. Then put aside the story for about a week and either work on something else or read a new book. Once you go back you can edit your work with fresh eyes.
Jill Prand Allowing my imagination to let go. What I originally envision isn't always what actually happens once my characters take over but it is usually pretty close.
Jill Prand I have a couple of things that help. I stop and read........reading gets me out of my head and into someone else's.

The other thing I do is take a couple of days off then read from the beginning and let my mind go as I try to reconnect with the characters.
Jill Prand My current WIP is third in my Walking Series and the idea for these characters came from my own life. When I was in high school, I had a boyfriend that went into the army, I never saw him again.
