Currently noodling a new Sebastian Wren mystery, tetatively called Bantam Bang, Bang. Titles generally don't come to me until at least halfway through writing a first draft. But this one kinda popped up & stuck.

I don't believe in Writer's Block, per se. I've had times when I didn't know how to write what needed to come next. My process for dealing with this is actually just to assign the task to my subconscious, and then kinda forget about it. Invariably, the solution will come to me, usually when least expected. I remember needing a "bridge" when I was writing Ursula's Yahrtzeit Candle to get the story from where it had been, to where it needed to go. I stopped writing for 2 months and just went about my life. Then, while I was staying at a B&B in Independence, MO, the 75-word bridge came to me. I grabbed my iPad & wrote it down, emailed it to myself & my wife--lest I lose it--then just continued to enjoy our travels. When I got back home, I inserted the 2 paragraphs where I had stopped writing, tweaked the copy, & went on to finish the rest of the book.
