HI Kaitlyn! I think publication order makes the most sense, but the problem is that a huge number of the things I've written since Bought and Trained have some relationship to the Institute. In the list below, I've deleted only the books that have nothing to do with Institute. I've put in parentheses books whose connection to the Institute is thin.

They do run concurrently; the best guide to the order to read them if you want to follow the in-world chronology is by their publication dates. If you want to keep the near-future, far future, and farther future timelines separate, you could save "Beyond the Institute" and "Galactic Discipline" for last.

Thanks for the question! I'm afraid this answer won't satisfy you, but it's got the benefit of being the truth. I never wrote more of Jane's story because it seemed to me to be taking shape like several other of my Institute stories. In my mind, Jane's later career at the Institute follows much the same course as Kristin's in "At Leo's Command." By that time, I'd begun to want to tell different kinds of Institute stories.

I guess I would respectfully disagree on the "simpering" front, but I do find it difficult to write strong-willed heroines because in fantasy I'm such a good girl myself. I agree that in real life submissives have to be strong and daring to live their erotic identities in a world that rejects their desires.
I guess I think the "kidnapped and enlsaved" issue is different from the character issue. Again, though, that's because of my own fantasies, and I'm sorry they don't appeal to you!

I'm going to go a little off the beaten path with this one, because I frankly have so many favorites that I want to highlight one that could easily get overlooked, and which dovetails very nicely with my next book, due out sometime soon. Lily Dale and John Eames, of Anthony Trollope's "The Small House at Allington" and "The Last Chronicle of Barset" never get together, and that's frustrating. It's also Trollope's best portrayal, in my opinion, of the plight of the Victorian gentleman's daughter. Worth checking out, if Victorian is a thing for you.

LOL! Yes, it took me a LONG time to be able to write it that way. I think it was the hundredth or so time I was reading my favorite scenes from "Story of O," and I realized that those scenes all had something in common. . . something I wanted very badly. . . :D

When I tried to write more conventional stuff, I always got blocked. For better or worse, though, whenever I have trouble in writing erotica, I just skip to a hot part that I can write one-handed, and the block is gone.
