There are and will only be two Vivian Apple books! I'm working on a new book with new characters now. But if you're really hungry for more absurd and chilling dystopia you can pretty much just watch the news!

This is so cool! I would not know how to begin to make a board game out of my own book so I don't think I have much in the way of suggestions, but good luck! If you can, I'd love to see the final product--you can reach me more easily on Twitter or Tumblr!

Hi Andi! I have so many happy feels about your happy feels. At the moment, we are at the end of our journey with Vivian; I always pictured it as only a two-part story. I'm working on a new and very different book now, but I could maybe see myself checking in with Viv in some form or another in the future!

Hi Annie! Yes, that's happening! I'll announce the title and release date on Twitter (@krcoyle) as soon as I know them. Thank you for reading!

Chrysten, thank you so much! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the book! It's all very confusing but don't fret--there are only two Vivian Apple books, and they are essentially identical on both sides of the Atlantic (with some very minor edits that would not really affect your reading experience, I don't think). VIVIAN APPLE AT THE END OF THE WORLD is the American version of VIVIAN VERSUS THE APOCALYPSE, and VIVIAN APPLE NEEDS A MIRACLE (coming out this September!) is the American version of VIVIAN VERSUS AMERICA. Again, the changes are pretty few and small, so you can read either the US or UK versions without issue! Hope this helps.

Hi Erin! There are two VIVIAN APPLE books: VIVIAN APPLE AT THE END OF THE WORLD, which comes out January 6, and VIVIAN APPLE NEEDS A MIRACLE, which will be out Fall 2015!
Katie Coyle
Hi Kaylie! Yes, it's the same book. VIVIAN APPLE AT THE END OF THE WORLD is the US title; VIVIAN VERSUS THE APOCALYPSE is the title in the UK. Otherwise they are pretty much identical!

Hi Dawn! I am not opposed to realist fiction in theory--I read a lot of it, but I seem unable to write it without a ghost suddenly appearing and haunting the shit out of everybody. The book I'm currently writing is very fantastical, and when I look down the line of hypothetical projects, I just see an endless stretch of witches, talking hummingbirds, time travel, spaceships, and mermaids. So I guess we'll see!

You are not rambling. I always knew VIVIAN was a YA novel, but I actually started writing it about a week after graduating my MFA program.
I did write and workshop almost exclusively stories about teenage girls & magic in my program, though. No one explicitly said, "Please stop doing this," but no one explicitly said, "Please keep doing this," either. A few people got what I was trying to do, and a few people thought I was a talentless hack, which is pretty par for the course for anyone in a writing workshop. However, one time at a reading I told the assembled crowd that my manuscript was a collection about teen girls & magic, and a guy shouted out, "It's called TWILIGHT!" Everyone laughed. I had to laugh, too, but only because I couldn't do what I wanted to do, which was breathe fire. I have a dream that wherever that guy is now, he will find himself walking through a bookstore in January 2015 and a large display of the hardcover US edition of my book, VIVIAN APPLE AT THE END OF THE WORLD, will collapse and bury him. Teens 4ever!!!
