I'd love to know who gave, or made me, drink a bottle of lye when I was 4. If you've ever tasted, or even smelled lye, you'd know it's not a pleasant drink. So even if a kid tried it they won't stick around for the bottle.

A large amount of British mysteries. Elly Griffiths, Joy Ellis, Charles Todd, Kate Atkinson, and so many more. I have some new authors that I will be trying for the first time; Lisa Ballantyne. Chris Ewan, Jane Addams, Patrica Hall, Anne Randall, Chris Simms. I also read a lot of Science Fiction, and I have a stack with Adam Christopher, Claire North, and Charlie Fletcher.

Oh this one is so easy, and yet still comes down to two series. I adore the Rebecca Shaw books set a lovely English village. I read these when the world scares me so bad I have to get out the Xanax. But, I'd also like to be in Peter Robinson's, Yorkshire Constabulary, with Alan Banks. Ann Cleeves, Jimmy Perez series is a third choice. I adore British mysteries but also the bucolic stuff like Miss Read. It really depends on what's going on in my life, so i need relaxing or stimulation.

Wow, someone needs to check her page more often. I write political and social satire so my inspiration comes every night, at 5:30, on the national news. The book I'm writing right now is all political but more serious. It is also a call to Poets to drop the smothering academic tone. and return to the social conscience that the Poet/Bard use to be.

Oh God, I'm pregnant! I wonder whose it is?

In general, I get ideas, inspiration, from news stories, Facebook memes, (which are plentiful right now) and listening to people talk out in public. But then, I usually write political and social satire, so about what you would expect. I thinking though, you don't want in general help, but answers specific to writing dry spells? Here is one of my tricks.
I do most of my reading in bed, at night. I keep a journal and pen next to the bed. You know those sentences you hit when reading, so beautiful or astounding, that you close the book and just think on that sentence? Well, I also write them down in my journal. When I'm stumped for a writing starter, I open that journal and can usually find a sentence that sends me off on a tangent.
Finally, if you are asking about a higher level of inspiration like, why are you a writer? I'm sorry, the only answer I have to that is, I have to. I wanted to be a writer all my life. And, when I don't write I'm a total bitch to live with. Just ask my husband. I hope this helps. If not maybe you can make the question a bit more specific. Good luck and keep reading & writing!

A set of chapbooks of which one will be coming out this year. It is a science fiction/ekphrastic look at Edward Hoppers paintings as told by the people in the paintings. There is also one chapbook based on a quote from Lost Journal, by a man named Jose Ramon Jimenez. "The worst thing about Death must be the first night." All the poems are about first night dead. Some funny some very disturbing.

A few friends have been bugging me for years to write about my childhood and begin an abuse survivor. Finally my doctor actually said this needs to be your next book. It just poured out when I started. I guess it did need to be said.

Have not had to deal with that issue. I've been too ill to write but I always have something to say!
