Matt J. Pike I was inspired for the concept of Apocalypse: Diary of a Survivor from my great grandfather's WWI war diary. He had some harrowing experiences at Gallipoli and on the Western Front, but his journal of events is filled with humour and equal measures of epic war time experience - he was shot, gassed and hit by shrapnel - and mundane day-to-day existence. It is an amazing read.
I wanted to take that feel of a personal account of a global event and transpose it in an alternate contemporary, sci-fi apocalyptic setting.
Matt J. Pike Clean the house, play video games, read a book, watch some TV. Then just roll my sleeves up and write something, anything, to get past the point of the block.
Matt J. Pike Keep writing. Get involved in a writing community. Show your work to someone and read the work of others. Ask questions of your writing and try to judge your words from a writer's and reader's perspective. Give yourself deadlines. Find an editor. Publish something.
