Gordon Brewer Since this is such a broad question I'll answer as follows:

TV/Movies - Morticia and Gomez Addams - Just general dark humor and wackiness in their relationship.

Film/Book - Nick and Nora Charles - who else could find murderers while trying to find the next drink? The sharp/witty banter is a breath of fresh air when you consider what is spewed out as wit on TV today.

Radio - (tie between) Burns and Allen / Fibber McGee and Molly -
B&A are a classic with Gracie's exploits, she was really the funny one in the duo. Fibber and Molly, while dated and a bit hackneyed at times, (I've recently discovered them on SirusXM radio when going to work) their banter is interesting and funny with the play on words.

Books and Stories - I must say that I'm not a fan of the standard suspects, Pride and Prejudice, Gone With the Wind, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, etc. Must be just me since most lists are made up of their characters.

For myself, I like tragic characters such as Sydney Carton, the selfless hero in love with Lucie Manette from Tale of Two Cities. While they are not a couple per se, his death for the unrequited love for the woman is far greater than any rational human might contemplate.
Also, I'm a fan of The Razor's Edge and really think Larry Darrell and Sophie MacDonald's tragic fate showed far more about the human condition over happy endings (Romeo and Juliet another great couple). Plus, I really hated Isabel Bradley's character.
