Really find this one of the most difficult questions. I like when an idea enthuses me because it's so easy to get that first rough draft onto the screen. Sometimes the idea will encapsulate something I've ached to write about but didn't have the 'complete' package. I'm working on one of those at the moment and it's sheer joy.

Perfection. Idea - rough draft - re-draft - edited draft - Perfection.
When the cake you're baking doesn't rise, it's spoiled and you have to make a fresh one. When the passage you've written doesn't work, you can keep at it until it does.

I can't say I've ever really suffered from writer's block although there will be fallow times when the brain needs a wee rest. I find it helps to be in a writers' group because they're likely to have competitions or set challenges. It's really useful to write out of one's comfort zone from time to time. My last effort was for the Elizabeth Goudge (closed) competition of the RNA. Didn't make the shortlist, but the judge remembered my title when we next spoke. Given the distinguished competition - that was a REsult.

Don't ignore the spooky feeling you get when something resonates. It might well be the answer to a plot question you don't yet know you have or are going to have.

My work in progress is the result of entering a competition to update a fairy tale. I'm 30,000 words in and loving the central characters - as always.
