Deb Donahue Giving voice to the characters in my head. They grow and mature as the book progresses and I would love them know them for real.
Deb Donahue See my answer about inspiration. Sit down and write, that's all. Write, write, write.
Deb Donahue I am working on another mystery set in the Midwest called Watcher, though I will probably put it out under a pseudonym since it is a lot darker in tone than my Donahue novels are.
Deb Donahue The key to writing is to not wait for inspiration. You sit down and start writing, that's all. Sometimes what comes out is less than inspired, but most often inspiration grows from the simple act of writing, not the other way around.
Deb Donahue I used to live in the little "mother-in-law" house across the driveway from a huge farmhouse that belonged to a large family who were friends of mine. When the mother retired and moved into town, they sold the house and I wished I could afford to buy it because I thought it would be a great location for an artists and writers retreat. Since I couldn't afford to do that, I decided to do it vicariously through my writing. And, because I'm a mystery writer, of course I had to throw a murder in there, as well.
