I primarily write historical fiction set in the ancient Near East. This allows me to learn about new palaces and spend time with people in the distant past. I have the privilege of experiencing how life might have been like for the characters and historical figures, along with what they learned, and what they wished they could have done differently.

I really I don't get writer's block. Rather I get too little time to write block, which is hard but does provide a sense of urgency when I can make time to write.

The idea for Babylon: Center of the World came to me in the form of a mathematical diagram with Yahweh, Marduk, and Ahura Mazda being points of a triangle. Where they intersected was the storyline for the Book of Daniel.
