D.J. Kettlety Oh spoilers… probably something to do with a ghostly encounter from I was young, or some of the strange dreams I had as a teenager.
D.J. Kettlety Started the Fables graphic novels, drawn in by the werewolf adventure, I’m now loving the twisted take on the stories and characters from childhood
D.J. Kettlety Not a question I've really given a lot of thought to. I guess it satisfies a need. When these stories exist just in my mind they feel like they are going to explode, they just have to escape. I can remember during creative writing as part of our English lessons at school once I knew what the story was I was going to tell the words began to flood out. This was sometimes a problem with me going too fast to get the ideas onto paper. I was also known to occasionally fill an entire exercise book with one story. Usually the teachers complained about the lack of effort from some when they received a half page missive, in my case they introduced a limit instead.
D.J. Kettlety Karl's story and even the next project have grown out of RPG characters I've played in the past where I spent a lot of time developing their back stories that they become standalone works. I usually then take the characters on a new journey, so the stories are not recounting the games.

Sometimes if I've had a bad journey home that can influence the type of journey my characters have if I happen to be writing that part of the story. Occasionally day to day events can creep in, but these adventures are set in a world of fantasy so really anything could happen.
D.J. Kettlety Probably not to start by asking for advice. You'll get a wide variety of answers, any of which will contradict each other, and will leave you more confused.

I would say simply: Write. Write about what you want to write about, and don't feel daunted by the prospect. Write down the first thing that comes to mind, that might be the start of a story, the end or even just some character description. Use that as your starting point and keep asking yourself questions to follow up on what you've written.
D.J. Kettlety At the moment I've not had to worry too much about writer's block since I've had quite a clear view of the whole story for Karl for sometime. There were points in the process of writing where some parts did not flow as well as I would have liked. In those cases I put down what I could, and moved on to later sections where I had a clear picture and then returned to the sticky parts later. Basically I write something even if it's not the part of the story I'm working on.

Book 2 of Karl's story follows different timelines, I found it easier to work through one timeline at a time for the first draft.
D.J. Kettlety At the moment I'm focused on the release of the final part of Karl's trilogy, getting that out on Kindle and in paperback. After that the plan is to get all three books released on other ebook platforms.

I already have a new writing project on the go, something including werewolves, but I'm not going to say any more at the moment.
I'm also considering either a sequel or a prequel to Karl's trilogy. I already have a few requests to expand on some of the characters in the series.
D.J. Kettlety Karl's trilogy started life many years ago when I began playing fantasy role play. I needed a character with a back story, and the first part of that back story finally evolved into the first book of the trilogy.

When I saw the rule book I decided there was no way I was going to take a magic character, so instead I decided on a character that was afraid of magic. Then I had to ask myself the question, "Why was he scared of magic?" And thus Karl's story began.
