N.M. Silber Hi! I was going to put it out sooner, but then I wasn't sure I should, because honestly, it wasn't my most popular book by far. I might revisit it eventually and try to improve it by incorporating the feedback that I got from readers, directly and through reviews. The next project I have coming up, though, the novel Legal Issue, in which Gab and Braden have a baby and Adam and Lily get pregnant. So, I'm going to try to get that out to people first before I go back and figure out what I should do with Power of Attorney. I'm sorry that's not a great answer. :(
N.M. Silber Hi! I'm writing Legal Issue right now, and in that one, Gabrielle and Braden have a baby and Adam and Lily get pregnant. I'm experimenting with how I want to tell it. Right now, I'm having both Gab and Lily alternate by telling their own part of the story. I think I'll keep it that way, but I'm not 100% sure. But, all four of them have prominent roles in the book. I hope you like it. Thank you so much for saying that you like my characters. :)

N.M. Silber OMG! Thank you! I'm so sorry it took so long to respond. I was having a lot of crappy days for a while but things are much better now. POA will be out November 23 and I'm so sorry about the delay. You are so sweet and it's folks like you who helped me it keep going!
N.M. Silber Hi! November 23 and I'm VERY sorry that it took so long! I hope you like it!
N.M. Silber I'm SO sorry. I had some very significant personal challenges. Among a couple of other things, I had cancer, but I had surgery and I'm cancer-free now. :) Anyway, POA is now scheduled to come out November 23 and I hope that you will forgive me for the delay and that it makes you laugh!
N.M. Silber Hi! I'm so sorry for the delay. November 23!!!! I hope you like it!
N.M. Silber I'm so sorry that I haven't been here in forever!!!! You want me to make Legally Wed into paperback form? I can do that! Winning Appeal is already in paperback. I suppose that I could put my short stories together into one paperback. Let me look into it! And I love you for saying that! Thank you so much!!!
N.M. Silber YES! I am! Adam and Lily, along with Gab and Braden, are having a baby! Legal Issue will be out later this year.
N.M. Silber I've been inspired by many books and authors throughout the years. There wasn't really one book that made me want to write in general, as I've been writing my whole life, but there are authors whose works influenced my writing. Agatha Christie's novels helped me to develop an appreciation for a clever, well-crafted mystery. Dorothy Parker inspired my love of sharp witted social satire. Neil Simon and Woody Allen influenced my love of intelligent, dialogue-driven humor. Kurt Vonnegut and Tom Robbins inspired my admiration for true originality, and John Irving showed me that a good writer could break "the rules" and get away with it. Finally, I also loved Helen Fielding's book, Bridget Jones's Diary, because it had terrific dialogue and it was truly funny, rather than crass. The heroine, Bridget, was smart and sassy, and three dimensional, with her own interests and friends and family and career. Additionally, the hero, Darcy, was intelligent, had class and respected women. That's sexy. I try to incorporate all of those things into my stories.
N.M. Silber Thank you! That's very kind of you to share. I'm so glad that my books made you feel good.
N.M. Silber Oh, wow! Thank you! You know, I have said so many times, I would really love to read a book where the characters were Jewish, and it was just a natural, normal thing. And I never did read one. So I wrote one! Any resemblance to individuals, living or dead, (including my Bubbe, may she rest in peace, the nutty old broad), is purely coincidental. Thanks again, Melanie. You made my night. :)
N.M. Silber The biggest benefit is that you have control over the entire process from writing, through publishing and distribution. You can do things your own way and on your own timeline. There are also benefits to traditional publishing, though. You get wider distribution and you have full editorial support.

As for challenges, most indie authors can't match the marketing muscle of a big publishing house. So you can write a good book, have it get great ratings and reviews, and still sell less than a book in the same genre, with lower ratings, when that book is associated with a major publisher.

I like being a hybrid author. I feel like I have the best of both worlds.
N.M. Silber It's just my own opinion, but I really like Penny Reid. I think she's fabulously talented and her books are consistently good. Thank you, though. :)
N.M. Silber I wanted to share a few points that were important me. I guess that my biggest point, was that my books don't make misogyny out to be sexy.
N.M. Silber Thank you, and I am considering it, yes. I am going to be a little more closed-mouthed about projects and plans in the future, though. So, I'm not sayin'! BUT - there's some really good stuff coming. I promise. :)
N.M. Silber Yes, sometimes, but not enough to give up homeschooling my kids and being an author. I was very lucky to have been a trail attorney for a number of years. I use that experience in writing my books about lawyers.
