Both Altera and In My Dreams are ideas that have been flapping around in my head for a while. I tend to have a skeleton of an idea and then when I want to write it I start working out scenes in my head. Yup, I daydream constantly (don't tell my students :o) )

Music is my biggest inspiration. I can be driving in my car and hear a song that I think would go amazingly with a story line in my books. "Rolling in the Deep" and some Florence and the Machine are the basis for a lot of Altera Realm.

Altera Realm book three is on hold right now while I work on my thesis for grad school. But fear not! I am really liking my thesis. It is the story of a girl named Beth who goes back in time to save her dream guy, who she's never met, from dying.

Find any time to write and just do it. The more you have in your portfolio the more you can present. Also, don't be afraid of feedback. That is the best way to improve your writing.

Getting to create interesting characters and stories. There are times when I go back and reread what I have written and get excited because of a line or two. I forget that I wrote it sometimes and just get sucked in as a reader.

Music and late night writing! I can focus and concentrate more when I write at night. I also just push myself to keep going, thinking about how great it is going to be when I'm finished.
