The series is organized like a TV show, with books being like episodes and an overarching plot per "season." The first 6 books are arranged into "Season 1" and books 7-8 are part of "Season 2" (which is planned to encompass books 7-12).

I'm really glad you've enjoyed the books! They are heavily inspired by a TV show from the 80s called "Scarecrow and Mrs. King". It's a similar fish-out-of-water tale in which an ordinary housewife accidentally becomes entangled with a spy and his agency. Lots of banter and adventure, but never too shocking and pretty clean.
Once I "met" Brent and Emily in Red Rover, the ideas for their further, episodic adventures and the overarching plot just wouldn't stop. So here we are 7 books later!

A great question! The answer is two-part:
1. Initially it was a personal reason. The idea for Shallows was in a few ways so bizarre I felt I would receive a lot of questions from some of the people I knew. Magic (even if weilded by the bad guys)!?! Ghostly characters?!!? It would have been hard for me to deal well with the questioning at that time, so until I felt more confident about the books I kept the pen name a secret. ;)
2. Because this trilogy is well outside my usual (it's slightly steampunkish fantasy, it's not really humorous, and it's pretty -- cleanly -- romantic) it makes sense to segment it from my other books in some way. It's an entirely different brand!
