Hi Kiran I'll see if my local library has a copy of your book. It sounds like my type of read. My Uganda manuscript is currently with a publisher, but that doesn't mean anything — yet! Enjoy Melbourne once shutdown is over. I was there from Dec to mid-Feb this year and never miss an opportunity to visit the two main art galleries as I'm deprived of art here in Vancouver. ???

Kiran Bhat Hey Mallee!! Thanks for expressing interest in reading my book!! I have no idea if your local library has it, as I have no idea where in the world you are, but I hope you can find it nonetheless. Am glad you got to enjoy Melbourne during those months. Between December and February I was in India, the USA, and Mexico doing book events for we of the forsaken world... :)

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Kiran Bhat Why would you even need my advice if you were an author? An author's source of inspiration comes within, long before I could have had any influence on it. The only thing I can do is provide consultation for projects already in action, but I don't think I can tell an aspiring writer to write. Said person would write because they have to.

I see that you are very well travelled... do you think it is possible to have a global perspective as a writer, without travel, if you live in a cosmopolitan and diverse city like London, Toronto, New York, Berlin etc.?

Kiran Bhat Interesting question. I personally believe the globe is inside of all of us, and our ability to connect and think globally comes from our ability to choose to view humans innately for what they are, rather than seeing them for how we choose to perceive them. If the global is the individual, and the individual becomes the cosmic, then the cosmic is the global.

At the same time, I think travelling made it much easier for me to start to see humans in a deeper context, because I got to see so many shades of the human experience. I think a city like New York or London is great if you want to see all of the skin shades of the world, but diversity isn't just skip deep. It's also about being formed in all of the different ways humans can be, and I think to see that, one has to have travelled.
