Well ... it's hard to think of anything positive about it, when your work is almost completely ignored and unread. If I didn't publish my own books, they would not see the light of day. But for all that, it is very satisfying to receive the boxes from my excellent printers and to know that a tiny handful are going to go out into the world and be read by a few people.

I hardly ever get 'writer's block'. I write because I am bursting with ideas and feel a strong urge to get them down on paper while I am still competent. In five or ten years, if I am still alive, I may be a doddering idiot who can't remember his own name!

The same objection applies. I never read horror stories or thrillers, find them completely boring and irrelevant. Ask me something about my non-fiction writing! I feel I am a guest at the wrong party, having an author's page on Goodreads. And anyway it doesn't seem to attract interest in my books.

You are asking the wrong person here. I am not a fiction-reader, except for a few favourite classics that I read and re-read. I can't think of a single fictional world that I would like to live in.

I don't make reading lists ever. The nearest I get to it is to request titles from my local library.
