Just happens. Or not. You can try and avoid certain situations, which don't make writing easy (heart attacks, car accidents etc) but all you can really do is minimise the negative & then hope something happens. Hope is important. Expect great things of yourself. Won't always happen but sometimes, just sometimes, it does.

Keith Ramsbottom series came out of a thought about how i would react if I was a teenager and my country was invaded. Nearly happened to England in my dad's generation but I wondered whether I would be brave enough to resist. Also I thought I'd be a rubbish rebel leader- and Keith was born.
