Vashti Quiroz-Vega I'm an avid reader. My favorite genres are Dark/High Fantasy, Horror, Suspense/Thriller and Sci-fi, but I've begun to read more books outside of my favorite genres.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega Thank you, Frank. I'm sure it's a combination of many things. The abundant religious and mythology books I've read that describe so many beautiful versions of heaven, like Valhalla, Elysium, Vaikuntha . . . Also, the many fantasy movies I've seen with places like Rivendell (Lord of the Rings), Tirion upon Túna, Pandora (Avatar), Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Legend I'm sure have contributed to my imagination. There are also many real-life places on earth that will leave you in awe. I think we authors have a special compartment in our brains that store all this information and when we sit down and write it's there for us to pick and choose from and embellish. Then we add a little bit of our spark to make it unique.

Vashti Quiroz-Vega I don't wait to get inspired to write. Sometimes inspiration comes easily from a song I'm listening to or a movie I'm watching. I've been inspired by my own writing––while writing one story I've been inspired to write another. Occasionally, inspiration doesn't come easy, but I sit and write anyway and then eventually inspiration comes. It works––try it!
Vashti Quiroz-Vega I don't believe in 'writer's block'. I believe there are distractions, interruptions and insecurities that can get in your way.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega Writing. ;) Writing is a necessity for me––like breathing or eating.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega If you desire to be a great writer you must read a lot of books, in all genres, and write every day. Create a blog and post short stories. It's great practice and it's also a great way to build your author brand.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega I recently (August 1st) released the first installment of my 'Fantasy Angels Series', The Fall of Lilith. Right now, I'm promoting my new book and spreading the word about the 99¢ promotion of The Fall of Lilith eBook going on right now until 8/15. I'm also writing the first draft of the second book in the series tentatively called, Dracúl.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega I grew up in a religious home, attended private school and went to church regularly with my parents. I read many religious books. I also read many fairy tales and mythology books. From a very young age I was intrigued by supernatural beings, especially angels and I often wondered what they were like, since the bible doesn’t say much about them. The combination of all of this is what inspired me to write The Fall of Lilith.
