I loved Kaylan's brothers in the Heart of a Warrior series, and I received that feedback from a lot of readers, as well. Micah, David, and Seth will each get their own book in a new three book series. I am currently working on Micah's story. Most of the book is set in Dallas, which is my hometown. I have a huge heart for the underdog, and so does Micah, so I picked an issue I am passionate about and added it to the story. Micah is leaving the war abroad in search of peace only to find a girl he loves caught in the crossfires of a neighborhood war at home.

I don't know that I "get" inspired as much as ideas hit me out of left field all the time, sometimes in the middle of the night, which tends to frustrate me. :)
Traveling and spending time with people I love stirs my passions and creativity. I pull those things together and create stories from there.

Currently, I'm working on a new series using characters from Heart of a Warrior. If you loved Micah in Shaken, Shadowed, and Surrendered, you are going to love reading about him in his own book and seeing the girl I picked for him. I'm really excited!

Get involved in the industry. Ask questions, plug into a local writers group, read blogs. Most of all, write. A lot of writers ask me about the process of publication but they haven't written a word. Don't worry about researching every publisher until you know you can back up the research with solid writing for them.

Someone said that a reader lives a thousand lives. I think authors live two thousand. It's fun to get into the head of a character, shape a world, and give that gift to readers. There's always something new to learn and a different way to view life and people.

I love writing, but sometimes you gotta get away from the computer. When I get stuck, I find something else to do that I love - go for a walk, hang out with a friend, read a book or watch a movie. If I'm really stuck on a book plot, it helps to get away from my normal routine and go visit a friend in a different city. Exploring and experience inspire creativity!
