What inspired the choice of Scotland as the setting for The Gold Keepers? I didn't think much of it when I glanced at the synopsis before reading the book, but once I was immersed in the story, the setting felt perfect; I'm nearly nostalgic for a place I've never been. Have you visited before?

Elizabeth Falkenberg Hi there! Scotland is a place near and dear to my heart! My husband and I met studying at the University of Edinburgh (we went to the same college in the states but funnily enough didn't meet until we did our study abroad). We then returned to Edinburgh in December 2024 for our wedding. When we came home from our Scotland wedding and Cotswolds honeymoon, I felt so creatively inspired. That, paired with the fact that I suddenly had free time and energy again without a wedding to plan, made it possible for me to consider actually writing the story bouncing around in my head.
