Gina Miani My kids were reading a lot of YA novels, so I read them too. I was particularly annoyed about the way angels are portrayed in some of these books. I wanted to write about angels and demons based on how they really are, in the bible. I also wanted to write a book for teens that involved God. God gets ignored in most of these books.

Gina Miani I write nonsense. Sometimes for days. I believe Veronica Roth calls this "word vomit." Just keep writing until something happens.
Gina Miani Not having to get dressed. And also having a good excuse to ignore people around you. I have a coffee mug that says: "Don't annoy the writer. She might put you in her book and kill you."

Writers are generally anti-social.
Gina Miani Writing for me is like knitting for other people. It's what I do to relax. It's therapy. Don't ask me why. When I was a kid I had terrible insomnia, so I told myself stories in order to fall asleep. Maybe I was a weird kid. Stories are a way of escaping.

When I was first starting out I met a woman who was a romance novelist. She was working on a book called "The Pregnant Princess." That sounded like a fun, stay-at-home job. That's what got me started on the Hammer books.
Gina Miani A YA Supernatural novel about a girl and her guardian angel. That's the short answer. My daughter, Dominique is working on songs to go along with the book, so we will be releasing the book with an accompanying EP, at least in digital format. This has been the most fun project! Dominique is an amazing songwriter.
