Writing keeps life from getting routine and boring and allows me to escape from reality into a world of my own creation. I'm a dreamer any way.

I try not to have a panic attack. :-) I also binge on reading. I think of interesting topics to research. I think writer's block is a form of procrastination (I'm the queen of procrastination, too) and procrastination itself is a form of fear. Fear and doubt, the two biggest blocks for any creative person.

My best advice is to read everything you can and to read a lot, not just in your favorite genre either, but everything from screenplays to history, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, and poetry. Read and study the classics. Also, write. Write a lot, do a lot of rewriting, and learn everything you can about writing from reading writing reference books and writing advice from other writers. Also, keep a writing journal and fill it with your thoughts and observations. Keep a notebook handy!

Trouble in River City stems from a childhood incident involving my youngest brother and me. Then, many years later I had a dream, no doubt spurred by the incident, that inspired the story that has become the focus and theme for the book.

I'm currently working on Book 4 in the Voice of the Wind: Shadows of Time series (tentatively titled Adria Gittel). Another book I'm working on for the series will cover the missing seven years and interweave several characters lives. It takes place between the 2nd and 3rd books of the series. I'm also working on a Young Adult novel, Trouble in River City, that is set in the year 1931. It's about orphans living on the streets of a fictional city that is based on Oklahoma City, OK.
