Emptying my head of all the noise created by all the characters lined up in there waiting for their turn to be heard! That and escaping reality, making new worlds, falling in love with characters, and getting good feedback from readers!

I am working on a Young Adult novel I have started writing with my two daughters in mind. It is set in the future in a utopian world where the last humans on earth exist peacefully. The main character is a 14 year old girl who discovers all is not as it seems, but does she have it in her to totally wreck the society she lives in? It is a story about rebellion, and about nature being owned and controlled.

I am inspired by life around me, by people I know and by perfect strangers, by music and by nature, but mostly by the people who pop into my head and start talking. They are the ones in charge!

This Is Nowhere was hugely inspired by where I live and the beautiful places I walk my hounds...the character of Jake came to me bit by bit, first I knew he suffered stomach ailments, then I found out he did not get on with his father due to totally opposing views on life and religion, then I discovered he was about to be made homeless...these pieces of his personality combined to help create the plot of a rootless young man forced home to face his family and his past.
