I won't lie and say it's easy. It can be quite hard as there are so many factors that you can't control. But if it's what you're passionate about there is nothing more rewarding. I will say that it's wise to have a day job for stability while launching your writing career!

It's different for everyone. Some people are just talented, but most get better with practice. For me, I felt my writing skills improved from reading a lot, writing a lot, learning to revise, and being open to feedback from fellow writers and critique partners I trust.
