Hi Lauren. Hmm. The favorite book I've written is THE FIND. And read? Well, that's a tough one. If I had to pick a single book I would say THE GREAT GATSBY by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It just captures so much longing, striving and vulnerability so perfectly.

Hi Lauren, I like books that change me. Books that make me smarter, nicer, more hopeful. Pure entertainment is nice once in a while, but life is too short not to read life-changing books.

I wouldn't say it was entirely from this, but I was interested in Thomas Hardy's "Tess," specifically about what happens when that thrilling shiny love feeling is undercut by the reality that the beloved is a flesh and blood human being, full of faults and failings.

I don't know. I just love to do it. Not always, I guess, but usually. Sometimes I just get a craving to be creative. Sometimes non-writing activity will satisfy the craving. Sometimes it has to be writing.

You know, I don't really get writer's block. I get "idea block," if you will, but that's when I'm thinking about what I want my next book to be, not while I'm actively writing.
