I have currently just finished a short Christmas story featuring the characters from my upcoming novel 'Within The Summit's Shadow'. This quick Xmas tale, set after the action in 'Within The Summit's Shadow' (hence it's title: 'I'll Be Home For Christmas', Within The Summit's Shadow 1.5) features my hero Andrew being challenged to go caroling by his nemesis - a delusion he refers to as The Dead Boy. I've recently completed and polished my newest novel, The Summit's Shadow, a romantic ghost story with a high-concept twist. I am querying it out to literary agents this week. Wish me luck!

As a clinical addictions counselor I can say (anecdotally albeit not scientifically) that trauma is certainly the basis for all addiction. I can also attest, with reasonable confidence, that trauma is, in turn, the root of all other mental illness and disturbance as well. With that in mind I considered my disgraced RCMP officer, Andrew Gavin - his life of anxiety, paranoia and delusions - Andrew sees a shadowy figure he refers to as The Dead Boy - and I thought.....what trauma did Andrew experience? The death of both parents, certainly. Being the incumbent guardian to his younger sister? Yep. But then I discovered he'd also bore witness, as a teen, to his best buddy's suicide, and I really sat up and took notice. Then Andrew told me that he was *the reason* his friend Peter shot himself in the isolated mountain woods, and I was hooked....
