I normally have several stories on the go at once. If the story flows I will finish it, if it doesn't I will tinker with unfinished stories, some of which are never going anywhere. I find the change as good as a rest and odter solutions I couldn't see before start to present themselves.

I have just finished putting together a collection of 50 odd stories ranging from flash through shorts to novellas and currently out with Beta readers. I have a novel "Life Less Lived" in draft form which I will edit as soon as the "Fifty Odd Shades of Monochrome" is published.

I get characters from sitting observing people, couples, families, imagining how they met and what their relationships are. I tend to get plots and solutions of actions from working quietly alone in the garden, free of all other distractions.
