Christopher Datta When I was in Liberia during the civil war there, we know there was a serial killer murdering women, using the cover of the war to get away with it. Would make a good mystery story.
Christopher Datta Birkin and Ursula from DH Lawrence's "Women in Love."
Christopher Datta I'm working on a memoir. I was an American diplomat and I helped stop two wars and brought two war criminals to justice. I spent my career mostly in hot spots dealing with civil conflict.
Christopher Datta Write. Then write some more. Try to write every day, even if it's just a page. The longer you write, the better you get. It's a passion that will last you a lifetime. I'm a much better writer today than I was 20 years ago, but that improvement would not have happened had I not kept at it.
Christopher Datta I don't really get writer's block. I have occasionally been stuck with one book. When that happens I put it away and go work on another book. I always have two or three going. I then go back to the original book later and have never had a problem resuming where I left off.
Christopher Datta The Demon Stone was a long time coming. The idea for it started many years ago when I was in rural Africa and came across an elderly juju man who told my fortune and who said he would punish my enemies with magic for a price. I said I wasn't interested!

It is also based on my war experiences in Africa, working as an American diplomat to end conflict and with both government and non-profit aid programs. Doctors Without Borders plays a prominent part in the book, and it is an organization I have worked with and highly respect.

It is a work of fiction, but much of it is reality based. The African warlord, General Mosquito, was a real person. Some of what he says in the book is based on interviews with him. The real horror of my book is not the supernatural element in it, but the very real evil people too often inflict on each other.

But in the end, the book is a message of love. I hope you'll give it a read.
