J.A. Sutherland I'm targeting an October/November release again for AC7. Subject to change depending on how things go. :)
J.A. Sutherland Short answer, that's me. :)

Long answer: That world is a bit darker, bloodier, and more violent than the Carew stories, so it seemed to be best after initial reaction to go ahead and release it under a pen name.
J.A. Sutherland I should probably log on to Goodreads more than once a year, oughtn't I? So #5 is out and #6 is in the works, scheduled for release 2018. I don't like to get more specific than that anymore, because something always happens when I do. Thanks for reading!

Since I'm following Alexis' career, the series will go on and on through that. I love the Age of Sail books like O'Brian's and there are plenty of ideas to take things into a series that long. She's only still a lieutenant now, so a long way to go. :)
J.A. Sutherland Wow -- I don't get on here much, do I? Sorry for delay in answering. Privateer's obviously out now and Planetfall 2 is sort of still on hold until I have time. It's a story I want to tell, but I'm still working the day job and have to budget writing time amongst projects. :( Thanks for reading!
J.A. Sutherland AC#6, as yet untitled, is set for 2018. It's about a third done with the writing as of now, but I've found that if I start throwing out dates then something happens and I wind up not writing a word for three months. :( But I will be posting updates and word counts and such on my blog (www.alexiscarew.com) and email newsletter. Thanks for reading!
J.A. Sutherland Sorry for the delay in answering -- I don't get on Goodreads much. :) But it's there now. I normally let the readers here add new books, because they're much better about that sort of thing than I am.
J.A. Sutherland Alexis Carew #4, HMS Nightingale, is scheduled for the second half of 2016. I'd like to be more specific, but I've found that everything takes longer than I expect. :)
J.A. Sutherland Thanks for reading! I'm glad you've enjoyed Alexis' story so far.

J.A. Sutherland So someone does read dedications. :)

Back in the late 80s I wrote a serialized piece on AppleLink Personal Edition, the precursor to America Online, called Tales from the MorF Wars. It was pretty popular in certain circles and had literally tens of readers.

In it there's a scene where a character is treated rather poorly by a car rental agent. Her reservation is passed over to give the last of the model she wanted to a business-suit type who didn't have a reservation.

She tries to work around it by stealing a car, but that doesn't work either, so she goes back to the counter and takes what they'll give her, but in answer to the "would you like insurance" question, her response is, "Full coverage."

Then her partner drops an acid-blooded alien out of a 20th story window onto the car.

My friend Eric says it's still his favorite scene I've written.
