Jan Meyers Proett Friends, these days have been so heavy, so laden with sorrow, for so many. So much loss, sorrow, myriad shades of injustice, brutal blows. Tender, quiet, private hurts.

For months now I have felt the weight of decades of navigating trauma, and literal darkness, in my daily work. This is true for so many of you, even if you aren’t a practitioner. You have, as Bruce Cockburn says, “kicked the darkness until it bleeds daylight.” We all have.

One way to kick darkness is to simply laugh. When I hear laughter these days, especially from children, it has a resonance unlike any other beauty. That lyrical, silly sound cuts through all the heaviness we put on each other, take on, throw around, or inherit. That kind of innocence comes blazing on the scene, screeches to a halt, looks around the room with a smirk and says, “Lighten up.”

I decided to take that innocent invitation, and have spent off-hours creating a boatload of satirical fun around two communities: Dog owners and Enneagram learners. Two beautiful communities that often need to laugh at themselves, at least a little more. Let's laugh at ourselves.

So that’s a long introduction to a book Dogeagram: Understanding the Mystery of Dogs (and occasional mocking of their humans).

Satire and substance, I like to say. 😊
Jan Meyers Proett I don't know when it happened, but dog ownership, adoption and training have become, well... intense. There's a lot of pressure out there to keep up with all the knowledge, training philosophies, supplies and activities. I kept thinking, "I think we should lighten up a bit and enjoy our dogs!"

Equally, I watched a lot of people I know, myself included, get a bit Enneagram focused. A little... intense.

Enter The Dogeagram! Dogeagram: Understanding the Mystery of Dogs (and occasional mocking of their owners) - the satirical attempt to have both dog lovers and Enneagram followers laugh at themselves.
