Today I purchased "Do I Make Myself Clear?" by Harold Evans and it will be a feast! I also have four non-fiction books on Allen Dulles, William C. Bullitt, Sumner Welles, and 'Wild Bill' Donovan on tap. My side-read is Joe Hill's "The Fireman."

My father's parents were immigrants to Canada from Ireland in the early 1900's. They died when he was young and he and his sisters (6) were adopted separately by couples in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. His surname changed from 'Collins' to 'Boyd.' Later in life, I discovered that there is a possibility, according to family legend, that I have a cousin in the U.S.A. whose name is Judy Collins (yes, the famous folksinger!). One day, I'd like to have enough time to solve this mystery to see if it is true.

The first fictional couple I met in literature was Cathy and Heathcliff from "Withering Heights," and I've never forgotten them. Why? Atmosphere, mood, and the moors.

Master your basics. Wonderful, remarkable stories cannot be told if the writer is unable to communicate. That doesn't mean being a hard-ass about the rules of grammar, but first you have to know them before you can break them. Knowledge is best expressed by expressing it in the best way possible, so read and keep reading. Reading and writing are BFF's.

I am getting ready for the release of The Reflecting Man Volume Two on April 1st, 2015. It clocks in at 505 pages and begins with Kurtis De'ath arriving in London at the beginning of 1936, a very tumultuous year in Britain as the Abdication and Appeasement are the two signal issues. Kurtis is, pardon him, going to have the time of his life. Next up is Volume Three, scheduled for release in April 2017, so there's a lot of work to be done.
