I don't know why some folks still want to "hold a real book" when 80% (and growing) is the number of people who use electronic devices to read books. But they do. So to please those, I am currently having my novels made available in printed form. The first one, "September Song," my latest novel will be available as a "real book" on Amazon in about a month. Price $14.99. (Ebook version, $3.99)

There's no such thing as writer's block. It's just an excuse not to write. A writer may not be working on his or her next great novel, but he or she should write SOMETHING every day. Writing begats writing. Never, never, never give up.

When you can write fictional characters so well that strangers become emotionally concerned for their welfare - that is the greatest tribute a writer can ever receive.

Read, read, read. Practice, practice, practice. Read everything you can lay your hands on in the genre you personally like. Then write and re-write your story. Now, go back to the beginning of this paragraph and do it all over again.

When I read "great writing" it always inspires me to do better writing. My hero of the modern era is Martin Cruz Smith. He is, in my opinion, the greatest word smith of our time. I can re-read anything of Smith's and it makes me want to write something great. I'll never match him, but I keep trying.

Life. After three "action/adventure" novels and lots of short stories, I wanted to write about the trials and tribulations of people. Their interactions with others. How they cope with things like adultery, divorce, heartbreak, death, the ordinary ups and downs of just "living" and learning to survive. "September Song" examines how a man loses everything of value to him, and finds that material wealth is really "fool's gold," and that true love can lead to redemption.
