(view spoiler)[The question reminded me of an experience I had many years ago when I first started writing: I ride a bike along a river lined with trees, the sun is generous and the environment very peaceful and as I advance in this somewhat unreal landscape comes to me suddenly the idea that by continuing to run, I will enter an unknown universe, a kind of 4th dimension and find myself facing a place where things would be totally different and strange.
And in fact I did not really take up this idea to make a novel, but the idea came back (without my knowledge) many years from this frame: I evolve in a familiar universe, real, but little by little, without realizing it, this reality fades away and I discover a world - apparently - unknown. It happened in a novel I wrote two years ago (Madeleine and Proust, the adventurers of the lost time):I imagined the main character Marcel Proust (who is in the novel a descendant of the writer Proust) riding a motorcycle like as he did everyday. Suddenly he meets a woman at once pretty and mischievous, and at once falls in love with her. But this woman has magical powers: in a fraction of a second she will make him travel in time and space and I, the author, will discover as I write what is this new world that topples into another dimension ... the image that was in germ many years earlier when my bike ride resurfaced almost identical in the elaboration of this novel ...

I think about the biblical characters David and Bathsheba since I read a few years ago an amazing Kabbalistic interpretation of their story. According to this interpretation, the soul of David and Bathsheba were promised to each other since the first days of the Creation. So even things could be difficult in their relationship and their story (for example, the guiltiness of David because he intentionally sent Ouriah, the husband of Bathsheba to death), the fact of the predestination of the couple is never questioned. So it is perhaps an ancient model of love story we find now in books and films which gives the feeling that the couple is more than a story of two persons, but is the meeting of two souls, is connected with eternity and is something you can’t fight against…
