The first book in my series "The Pelican Family Series Children's Picture Books" came to me as I was standing on the pier in Manhattan Beach, CA. As I watched a line of pelicans fly by I thought about what a fun counting book it would make to find out more about the lives of these pelicans while providing counting lessons for children too.
