Deborah Reber I move around a lot and try out different writing environments until I find one that helps me get unstuck. Sometimes a change of scenery and different environmental energy is enough to shift me out of stuck mode and into writing mode.
Deborah Reber I love that my books are things that exist because I dreamed them up. It's a pretty amazing feeling.
Deborah Reber READ a ton and notice which writing voices speak to you. Be playful in your own writing and try out different tones, voices, and styles until you stumble upon the one that feels natural and authentic and FUN and EASY to you. Also - be willing to write crappy first drafts and trust in your ability to shape and edit and tweak your writing until you get it just where you want it.
Deborah Reber I'm beginning a new writing project that a nonfiction, memoir-type book for adults. I'm early in the development stage, but will share more when I can!
Deborah Reber I think I get inspired about the IDEA and what I want to CREATE and therefore the writing is just part of executing on that idea. I don't know that I always feel super inspired to write per se, but I always feel inspired to create. I'm not sure where it comes from...it's a constant nudging from within the pushes me forward.
Deborah Reber One of the things people are always asking me is how I get so much done, and in talking with teen girls and young women, I realized that they had so many things (big and small) that they wanted to do, but were getting stuck with the same kinds of things that hang everyone up. I've written several books for girls giving them strategies to create a more balanced life as well as designing the future and career of their dreams, so it just clicked for me that I needed to write a book that would share my best strategies for pushing past obstacles and getting stuff done. Now that Doable is finished, it's absolutely my most favorite book I've written!
