Falcen is my favorite kind of hero to write because he isn't a 'hero' in the traditional sense. He’s the monster the Academy keeps on a leash because he’s the only one lethal enough to win their wars. But my favorite thing is the way he reacts to Verily. Their chemistry is explosive off the bat, but he’s a man of strict rules, and Verily’s 'late bloomer' magic is the one thing he can’t control or predict. It's a lot of fun writing his loss of composure when she keeps almost killing them! He’s assigned to be Verily's jailer and report every flare of her magic, but the moment anyone else tries to touch her, his protective streak comes out in the most violent way possible. If you like a hero who is a lethal weapon with a soft spot only for the girl who hates him, you’re going to love him.

Dark romance doesn't ask its characters to be good people. As a writer, writing complicated characters is like catnip. People make terrible choices for reasons that make complete sense to them, and it's always addictive to write from that point-of-view, because I'm making characters act in ways I never would in real life. But that's the beauty of it! It's an escape, a place where danger is but you're safe the entire time. Dark romance just lets people be exactly as confusing and contradictory as they actually are, and somehow that's still where love shows up, not as an end-game reward, but as an additional complication. That's why I love writing it.

Yes, there will absolutely be a sequel. I expect it'll be published early next year. I'm sorry for the cliffhanger lol! It was honestly meant to be one book but as I neared the end I could not close off these characters' stories. There was so much more to do and say! But it means the world that you enjoyed it, and I can't wait to release the sequel into your hands as soon as it's ready!

Hi Vivian! This is a tough one to answer, because it's a decision I wrestled with for quite a while before ultimately deciding to make Snapped a monthly novella series. The simple answer is - I was excited to try something new and different! I wanted intrigue, and I felt that would fall short on just one book. So I thought maybe I could make it two or three books, but then when I outlined, the points where I wanted to cut off and start a new book were so staggered and uneven that it worked better to cut the series into novellas as I wrote. This is a step-by-step process that's not in stone yet - the end is still in development! And while my other series may not do this, I feel that the Snapped Series was best represented by novella-length parts.

Yes! I am. After a lot of research and thought, I decided this was the best route for me, especially when I began writing paranormal and realized it was tough to be published traditionally, since this was a "saturated" market. So I researched indie publishing for my Dark Souls Series and realized I loved the control and freedom self-publishing allowed me. That's not to say I don't approach it seriously - I use professional editors and cover designers to ensure I provide my best work possible to readers. It is a learning curve, however, and I find I learn something new every time I hit "publish." My one hope is that I help prove that self-publishing isn't a last resort and that for many indie authors, this is a choice, and we approach it with professionalism and decorum - and love it!
