I'm whipping through the first draft of my second book. I'm at that amazing stage where everything just flows, my characters are coming to life, and there aren't enough hours in the day to commit the story to paper. I'm looking forward to getting it all down and then playing around with the edit.

I just keep going. Yesterday, I was desperate to crack a plot element. I knew it was in there somewhere, itching to get out. So I just sat at my desk, doodling words on a notepad. Writing something; anything. And then, when I relaxed, it popped out onto the page. Ta-da!
Taking a break and walking away from it doesn't work for me. There's too much going on in my head that can creep in and put me off.
