I accept that it is part of the process. It's my mind saying it needs a break. So I take that break and sooner or later, the wheels start turning again, oiled with fresh ideas, especially once I begin re-reading what I might have put aside 2 weeks earlier.

The very best thing is the feedback I get from my readers. They confirm I haven't wasted my time or theirs. Nothing is sweeter than hearing them say they can't wait for my next book.
The other thing I just have to add about writing is this:
When I'm talking, people always interrupt, disagree or give their ideas before I can finish. When I write, I can get it all out without being interrupted. Then the reader can decide if they want to respond when I'm done!

I would give the same advice Stephen King does: if you want to write, read. So read, read, read, then write, write, write. Don't hold back the creativity in you that is screaming to be expressed and others want to read. Conceive, believe, and you can achieve!

I am currently writing yet another memoir, but this one is semi-fictional in that I cannot remember all the details and names of the people involved. It covers the 4 years I attended a Catholic girls high school. I am hoping to make this book a much funnier one that my previous two books as my high school days were often funny, even when tinged with sadness. I look back on them fondly. I also hope to stir up memories in all of us who were in high school in the early 60's, when rock and roll ruled American Bandstand, we all rushed to buy the latest 45's, and our pop stars kept their clothes on!

Inspiration is everywhere around us if we are receptive. To my way of thinking, nothing is as variable as people, except nature itself. People are an endless source of fascination to me and they never stop surprising me. They inspire me to write, as does the beauty ... and sadly, the evil, in the world around us.

My most recent book, "Learning to Love Myself" was prompted primarily by readers of my first book, "No Tears for my Father", which won a Gold Medal in 2014. The first book is a memoir of the child sexual abuse I suffered at the hands of my biological father until I was 24. Those who read that account were curious about my life after I got away from my father and how I have become the person I am today. That is what I have shared with them in "Learning to Love Myself".
