I recently wrote 2 more articles for my publisher's academic database (ABC-CLIO). They should be available online soon! Keep an eye out for “Is India justified in building a highly-secure wall around Bangladesh?” and “How the South had changed as a U.S. region economically, socially, and politically in the past 50 years.” A few days ago, I submitted another book proposal but I'll keep the prospective title under wraps for now. Keeping my fingers crossed that the publisher approves it!

Follow your passions - make your passions your subject matter. Enlist the help of family and friends to read your work during the writing and editing process to enlighten you. Take all the criticism with an open mind and never take it personally. Keep writing even when you're not happy with your work (we are often our worst critics). One more thing, try not to edit when you're writing so you can let the creative juices flow. You can always fix the run-on sentences later!

Writer's block is extremely frustrating - even more so when there are deadlines to meet. I use meditation to clear the mind. Sometimes I read my work pretending it's by someone else and write down questions to ask the "author." That's when I really get going! My questions spur my writing!

I was in law school at the time Katrina hit and followed the aftermath for years. I decided to address the issue of continued segregationist policy in a law school thesis. Encouraged by my law professor and GNOFHAC during the research process, I presented the idea to ABC-CLIO to turn the thesis into a book. I am blessed the publisher felt it was a worthy endeavor.
