Rock Kitaro Oddly enough, "The Three Kings of Ybor" story was sparked by a debate I had with some very conservative friends of mine back in 2009. It was about gun laws. Back then, I childishly argued that I thought the world would be better off if guns were outlawed. My friends argued that guns will always find a way into the wrong hands. A good example of this is with alcohol in the Prohibition Era.

So...I asked myself. What if we lived in a world where guns were ineffective? So what if people had them. What would it be like if guns hurt, but didn't kill people? How would it affect crime? Would normal citizens be as law-abiding?

Thus, I conceived The Three Kings of Ybor saga.
Rock Kitaro Music! I think that's for anyone though, right? It doesn't matter what kind of music you're listening too, it's going to take your mind to another place.

So...other than music. I'd say hearing and reading about perceptions different from my own. Reading about historical events or biographies. Thinking about my own personal future and what could happen if...
Rock Kitaro Currently, I'm finishing up the last of my "Three Kings of Ybor" saga to release on Amazon Kindle. At the same time, I'm conducting research on current events pertaining to the Middle East and reading biblical scriptures. Without revealing too much, it has something to do with a personal theory I have about Armageddon.
Rock Kitaro Honesty is your best weapon. In this day and age everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of setting off to become writers after seeing the success of franchises like "The Hunger Games," "Harry Potter," and "Twilight."

I'm not here to judge whether its bad or good to jump on that bandwagon, but if you are...who cares! Be honest! And throw that fake modesty out the window. Because with the market being flooded by writers pushing their next great idea that's ridiculous similar to that movie playing in the theaters out right now, it's going to take a great deal of confidence, ambition and discipline to push ahead of the rest.

Also, beware of those who lack ambition!
Rock Kitaro How does one define the best thing about breathing without stating the obvious? I suppose for me, the best thing about writing is that it's provided an outlet for me in my personal life. I hate saying I'm different but at the same time, I'm far from normal.

Raised unconventionally and in contradicting environments, it was hard for me to explain to people what was bothering me internally without them looking at me like I have three heads. I gradually came to accept myself for who I was, but simply forming that personal constitution and praying to God wasn't enough for me.

So a blank piece of paper listened to my problems. The number of self-discoveries I've unearth by simply writing down my internal conflicts and coming to solutions to the problems...it's a beautiful thing. Of course, even after I've come to the conclusion, I've had to seek second opinions. This is a must not just for validation, but to assure yourself that you're not going crazy.
Rock Kitaro I don't think I've ever had to deal with a "writer's block" yet. I do know that when I don't want to write, I never force myself to. I just have to step away for a moment and take a break from it.

To me, writing isn't a just hobby that I cram out in my spare time. It's something that I absolutely love and must do. It's my own therapy. It's my ability to fly, my ability to escape this world without committing suicide. So no matter how tough a time I'm having at the moment, I know the urge to do so will come back to me in a matter of days. Never weeks or months.
