Gillian Felix I waited for the pedestrian light to give me the go-ahead to cross the street when I got to the middle of the road a drunk driver hit me with his car and dragged me 50ft. I saw a blood trail as the asphalt tore my skin from my body and I wondered if this was the end for me. True story.
Gillian Felix I'm not really sure yet. There are so many great books out there.
Gillian Felix Thank you for your question. My favorite fictional novel couple would be Heathcliff and Cathy from Wuthering Heights. That kind of love is maddening and some people go their whole life without ever finding that.

For favorite fictional TV couple; Rick and Michonne from The Walking Dead. They have an amazing friendship which was and still is the basis of their romance.
Gillian Felix I deal with writer's block in several ways. The first thing I do is try to figure out why I am blocked. Usually if I feel a scene doesn't have enough drama, and I am bored with it then I look for ways to spice it up.

Sometimes a long walk or hike clears my mind or reading a book that is outside of my writing genre works to clear me up.

As writers, I think sometimes we need to take a break from our own work to recharge and clear the blockage.
Gillian Felix The best thing about being a writer is the freedom to allow your imagination to run wild with no apologies. My novels are reality based but some of the characters are mentally way out there. When logic and morals go out the door that creates a more interesting story.
Gillian Felix My advice to aspiring writers is to keep on writing, and find a good editor. A good editor is worth it and makes all the difference. Find one that gets your voice as a writer.

Don't be afraid to re-write, because when you think you are married to an idea, a re-write can take the story in a direction that you didn't think about the first time around.
Gillian Felix I just finished my first non fiction book and I am in the editing and formatting stage.

Currently I am working on the second draft of the 4th book in the Family Portrait series, and putting together a 3 book tour for the other books in the series. I just changed the digital version cover for the 2nd book The Banovic Siblings.

I am running several summer specials on the books and working on marketing and promoting those.
Gillian Felix I love writing, and I have always written. For me writing a story is my way of escaping whatever is going on in my life. I find that I am better able to channel the emotions I am feeling into a scene and when I am done, magically I have an idea of how to deal with the problem.

I know the characters really well so I am inspired to write without much persuasion, usually after a long hike.
Gillian Felix My book series is based on a television series I had written years ago. I worked behind the scenes in the television and film industry for a number of years, so writing the story as a script made sense to me.

The characters in the series are based on characters I had created as a child, and over the years I changed them as time progressed. The series kicks off with the kids of the original characters.
