Hi Kate! Sorry for the delay on this -- after I got my book deal, then went through the editing and copyediting process, I was given my release date. Once I had that, I ordered some designed postcards and first chapter books to send to interested parties, reached out to local libraries and bookstores, and contacted bloggers that specialize in YA and genre fiction. I also worked with my in-house publicist for interviews and in-person events! Thanks for your question and hope this helps ;)!

A few things are tied for "best":
1) Brainstorming a new idea/potential book and growing a kernel of an idea into characters and a world (and a synopsis).
2) Those few minutes where I manage to lose myself completely in the story and I'm no longer conscious of the fact that I'm writing, because I'm 110% living in the world I'm trying to build, completely settled within the skin of the characters I've made up.
3) When my second or third draft is done, and the story is in place and fairly set, and it's all about polishing -- infusing world details here, revving up tension there, providing more character insight and other embellishments that are pure fun for me after the heavy-lifting.

Write every day -- even if it's only 50 words (or a sentence) -- keep moving forward and working on your craft. Also, read every day: more and more I find it's just as important.
