Hi Jean, Congratulations on your first novel. A book that had a positive influence on me was 'On Writing - A Memoir of the Craft' by Stephen King. After a brief biography he does an amazing job of explaining the tools and techniques he uses to create his novels. I highly recommend it. As for me I try to put myself in a crime situation and add personal experiences to my character's background and adventures. If you have fun writing it, there's a good chance your readers will have fun reading. Cheers, Garrard
