It's like acting-- I get to be a different person when I write. Jobs I've always been interested in, relationships I've dreamed of having, sexy dialogue that never happens in real life. I get all of that while writing. Then I get to put it down and go back to the real world. It feels a bit like cheating, being able to be so many people.

I'm currently working on a dark romance with an alpha cowboy. It is moodier than I usually write, but I've been in a darker spot this year and this has been cathartic to write.

Taking baths. I stole my daughter's bathtub crayons because of it. Something about hot baths just lights up my brain, I guess. Other people bathe to unwind-- I do it to get ideas! It'll start as a conversation snippet between characters, or a strong image, or just something like "what might happen if X happened to a woman? How would that change her life?"
Then I grab a crayon and start writing my notes on the wall, hashing them out a bit.
