I sit in the chair and force myself to write. I treat writing as a job. If I showed up at the office and didn't work, I wouldn't get paid. So I think of writing the same way. I show up, sit in the chair, put my hands on the keys and type. Even if it's awful, at least it's something. (I allow myself the freedom to know I can always revise later.)

Thank you for the question. I think the first sentence needs to begin on a hook. It should draw in the reader. I like to read books that draw me in from the first line. So I want to do the exact same thing. :)
