Jeanne Quigley In an early draft of All Things Murder, Veronica was fired from her acting job on a soap opera. When All My Children and One Life To Live were canceled, I got the idea to cancel Veronica's soap. That made Veronica's job situation more bleak; there was no chance of her returning to the show she had starred in for thirty years.
Jeanne Quigley I'm working on the third mystery in the Veronica Walsh series!
Jeanne Quigley I can do whatever I want! My day job is all spreadsheets and databases. There is no room for creativity or choice; everything must go in a specific box. With writing, I can change a scene, a character's name or appearance, even the whole plot, as often as I like. Unlike in life, I can re-write dialog, having a character say the right thing at the right moment. Writing is certainly a wonderful creative outlet for me.

Jeanne Quigley Never give up. If a writing career is meant to be, you won't be able to stop writing, even as rejections pile up and you see no hope in sight. Keep writing, reading, and learning.

If you can't find an agent to represent your work, research publishers that accept un-agented submissions. Five Star Publishing, which released All Things Murder, accepts manuscripts directly from authors.

Believe in yourself!
Jeanne Quigley A good walk often helps me work out of a tough spot with a story or provides inspiration when I'm searching for an idea. Sometimes it is best to stop and let the answer come to me in its own time. And saying a prayer always helps!
Jeanne Quigley Thank you, Ellen! I hope you enjoy All Things Murder. Have a great week!
