Skadi Winter The idea for the book I am working on now came from a newspaper article I have read once. It was about a war hero who could not find a way back to a life in a peaceful society. He could not stop to murder. 7% of studied serial killers had military experience and training. They cannot stop craving for accreditation for the 'work' they have done (in the USA alone a number which, I think,in reality is higher).
Skadi Winter I think, my inspiration comes from my own life's history and experience. From tales as old as mankind. From books I've read during my life time. From old myths and legends. From my fascination by words. I am under the spell of words...
Skadi Winter My second book is with my editor - a mystical story, phantasy, a world in darkness and children as carriers of hope. The historical background is leaning strongly on the story of 'wolf children' - children who have been lost or orphaned during the great flight in Eastern Prussia after WWII. I am not a history writer but history motivates searching for ways to understand wars.
My 3rd book, which I just have finished researching for, is about a war hero of Chechnya who cannot find a way back into society after having committed atrocities during the war. He has not learnt to stop killing.....
Skadi Winter Just write your heart out. To become a best seller or to become rich should never be the sole motivation - it doesn't work like this. Writing can be a very painful way, a struggle, not only with words but also to make a living. Just follow your imagination and don't orientate on the market alone. What is 'in' today can be 'out' tomorrow. Always be true to yourself in your writing. Words are a powerful tool and they don't like to be prostituted. Words have the power to chance the world.
Skadi Winter The best thing about being a writer for me is to create a kind of parallel world and invent characters. Power of imagination, inspiration and psychology - just being creative and indulge in the process.
Skadi Winter I take my 3 dogs for a long walk, either along the sea shore or through the fields and woods where I live. Sometimes, I do some gardening or write an email to my friends.
